Dan the Lions

Spring is in the air. I know this because my allergies have been acting up. Each year the “Dan the Lions” make an appearance in our yard. My son’s name is Dan and when he was small, he thought I was saying, “Look Dan, the lions!” We tend to let the backyard grow wild before we start mowing it regularly. It gives the bees time to buzz about the Bugleweed and Heal-All that grows each year before the grass pushes through. We’re not people who invest in a beautifully manicured lawn. We tend to let nature do its own thing back there as long as it’s not poisonous to people and pets, we’re good.

I’ve been trying to get out back and take photographs because I think it’s quite beautiful to see how it goes from dingy brown to vibrant green. Our yard backs up to a wooded area which also provides wonderful splashes of purple when the wild wisteria blooms. Today, I found the time.
