Welcome

After blogging on Wordpress.com for nearly a year, I realized that I needed a new site. While Wordpress worked as a platform for blogging, it didn’t work for my photography. Even though I’m retired, I’m still actively capturing moments with my cameras. With my Great-Niece’s wedding quickly approaching, I needed to make a decision whether to upgrade my Pixieset site, subscribe to Smugmug or return to Squarespace. When I was providing photography for the public, I used Squarespace to host my site and Smugmug for client galleries. It worked seamlessly but that was back before prices exploded. Smugmug was my home for photo storage for many years, but now in retirement it’s more than I need and at the same time, not enough because blogging is part of my life and SM doesn’t offer blogging services. Squarespace offers that and so much more. So here I am, thanks to my Great-Niece saying “Yes” to her amazing guy. I dropped a few engagement photos here since I did the outdoor shoot. She was also blessed to have A Flash in Time Photography do some beautiful studio shots as well.

People have asked if I wouldn’t prefer to just be a guest at the wedding and enjoy the celebration. Even if there was a hired photographer present, I’d still be shooting. Granted, I wouldn’t get in their way, but I’d definitely be shooting. Capturing moments is part of who I am. Documenting a life that the Lord has given me, brings joy and reminds me daily of how He has richly blessed my life.

Retirement and becoming a “senior citizen” are challenging at times but I’m learning to embrace this season of life. Through this blog, I can also share everything I’ve come to love along the way. I’m an avid reader, a cinephile and have been a gamer since Pong. Life is filled with church, Bible study, family gatherings and dear friends. It’s also filled with hours of crafting and baking.

Thanks for drifting in. I hope to fill this space with things to encourage others as I pour out all the things I still have left to say.
