Sew in love again

Nearly eleven years ago, I purchased a Brother CS-6000i sewing machine. I don’t remember why I purchased the brand, because I grew up in a home with a Singer sewing machine that sat neatly in a sewing table and it was older. Mom sewed a lot of our clothing when we were little, and I believe she sewed our dresses for my brother’s wedding back in 1970.

Me, my cousin Sam and my younger sister with her sassy attitude showing. She says it’s because I poked her in the eye. I can neither confirm nor deny this allegation.

So why dust it off now? Because I bought a skirt from Shein and it was 3 miles too long. I’m a shorty at 5’1” which means skirts and dresses are always too long. The thought did cross my mind to purchase mini dresses in hopes that the length would hit my knee. For now, I had to contend with this skirt because I also found a t-shirt on Amazon that I want to wear with it.

I picked this up for under $20 and was impressed with the quality. The graphic is beautiful, perfectly placed and the colors are vibrant. The sizing is perfect and the material is soft and comfy. Great purchase.

With the hem complete, I’m in love with the idea of trying my hand at a few small projects to get back into it. Then, I hope to finish the quilt I started during the pandemic.

Life is good, even though I’ve been dealing with a cold since last Thursday. Thankfully, I feel like this one is ending quickly but the typical medicine I take to alleviate cold symptoms causes acid reflux which causes a horrible hacking cough. Welcome to getting older. It’s an adventure that’s for sure.

Peace,
B
